How tall will my child be?

Use the child’s height, both parents, and optional weight. The free answer is the prediction; the report explains the range and the methods.

How tall will my son be?

Boys typically keep growing later than girls. A 10-year-old’s CDC percentile plus dad and mom is a better start than the old “double height at two” rule.

How tall will my daughter be?

Most girls finish most of their growth 1–2 years after menarche. Mid-parental height and today’s percentile still set the range.

What is the Khamis–Roche method?

Khamis–Roche (Fels Longitudinal Study, 1994; coefficients corrected 1995) predicts adult height from current height, weight, age, and mid-parental height — no bone-age X-ray.

What is mid-parental height?

Tanner’s 1970 formula: add the parents, add 13 cm for a boy or subtract 13 cm for a girl, then divide by two. The classic range is about ±8.5 cm.

What does a height percentile mean?

A 74th percentile means taller than about 74 of 100 children of the same age and sex on the CDC 2000 stature chart. A falling percentile matters more than a low-but-stable one.

How do adult height predictors work?

Serious predictors combine the child’s growth curve, parental genetics, and — when weight is known — Khamis–Roche. Stretching gadgets are not in that list.

Can short parents have a tall child?

Yes. Height is highly heritable, but it is not an average of two parents. Regression to the mean and the ±8.5 cm Tanner band leave room for a child clearly taller than both.

How accurate are height predictors?

Khamis–Roche’s typical 90% error is about ±5 cm in the original Fels sample. No website replaces a pediatrician when percentiles are falling.

Will my young athlete keep growing?

Basketball, volleyball, baseball, football, and swim families already think in inches. The honest question is the growth window — not a training hack that reopens plates.
